<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nAnd back then, I truly thought I was the only one starting like this. That everyone else had MacBooks, 4K monitors, and chairs that looked like futuristic thrones. And me? I had equipment that could land a role in Air Crash Investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I remember how people in my course group could hear its hum through my microphone. I had a whole team advising me on how to clean it, how to apply thermal paste, how to squeeze a little more life out of it. It was incredible. Strangers who didn\u2019t know my name, but knew the sound of my laptop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And my laptop? It had its own dramas too. There were moments when the \u201cno disk detected\u201d screen would appear, and I could already see myself crying over the keyboard, convinced everything was gone. But every time, it came back to life, as if quoting Syrio Forel from Game of Thrones: \u201cWhat do we say to death? Not today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it really stayed with me all the way until I landed my first job in IT. And somehow\u2026 it\u2019s still running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I finally started working and got back on my feet, I didn\u2019t rush out to buy a new desk. I didn\u2019t get a chair that doesn\u2019t creak. I didn\u2019t replace my equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First, I built a gaming home office for my husband. I repainted the walls, brought in new furniture, and set up a height-adjustable desk. I wanted him to have his own space. One where it feels good to work and just as good to relax. I paid for it with my own savings, built up over the years. It was my way of showing gratitude for the five years he supported our entire family and gave me the space to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And me? I took his old, small, narrow desk. I took over his keyboard and mouse too. I\u2019m still sitting on the same wooden chair that remembers my first tutorials, my first mistakes, my first \u201cwhy doesn\u2019t this work?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And you know what? It doesn\u2019t bother me. Where I am today comes from the hours I spent learning, not from what surrounded me. But I think it\u2019s finally time for my home setup to catch up with my ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nThe equipment I got at work is great, and I genuinely enjoy working on it. But growing outside of work is a different story. I want to write more code, automate, build my own tools, experiment with technologies that can eat up resources faster than I can finish my morning coffee. I want the space to learn not just for now, but for a year, two, three ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s why I bought a new computer. It wasn\u2019t a spontaneous decision. I went through different models, compared them, wondered whether it was worth paying that extra 500 PLN for a better graphics card, a faster processor, more headroom. I wanted a machine that wouldn\u2019t just keep up, but would let me grow. One that would stay with me longer, even as technology keeps racing ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And don\u2019t let that fool you\u2026 a first job doesn\u2019t suddenly mean you can afford expensive things. Of course, my salary contributed to it, and I\u2019m proud of that, but I\u2019m still just an ordinary person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m still sitting at the same narrow desk, on the same wooden chair. I type on the keyboard I took over from my husband and look at a monitor I gave a second life to. And there\u2019s something beautiful in that, that the only new thing is the power, not the surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n

It\u2019ll probably spend it with my kids, playing Minecraft\u2026 if it can handle it. And if not, maybe at least in that educational mode where kids learn coding through Minecraft.\n\nMaybe it\u2019ll become a mentor for a new generation of programmers. After all, for years it taught me patience, determination, and that even when it shows \u201cno disk detected,\u201d it\u2019s not the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And as I sit here on my wooden chair, with a new computer under the desk and my old laptop getting ready for retirement, I realize that this journey really wasn\u2019t spectacular. It wasn\u2019t comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, as I keep moving forward, I still glance back. Not to see if anyone is catching up, but to see if someone is just taking their first step. If someone is sitting at a kitchen table, with a cup of coffee and a piece of equipment that has its moods. If someone needs that one sentence I was searching for back then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Remember.
You don\u2019t need perfect conditions. You just need to start.
Even if your laptop sounds like a helicopter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
